Physiotherapy

Real Time Ultrasound assists the physiotherapist with diagnosing problems in specific muscles or muscle groups, showing how they function in “real time”.

Assessment of the muscles is made while they are viewed via the ultrasound screen, where the physiotherapist can observe the muscles contracting and releasing.

Any problems or weaknesses are more accurately spotted, making ultrasound an important tool when retraining correct muscle activation and movement patterns.

For example ultrasound is often incorporated into the Pilates Initial Assessment to check the functionality of the pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles.
